Smart Start Summer Camps-2010

This summer, Smart Start will be offering three different summer camp sessions designed to offer your child creative art and activities, outdoor sports and and fun excursions, water play and all around summer fun!
We are thrilled to have such highly qualified, experienced and energetic teachers to lead our camp sessions.
Session 1: June 15-24 10:00-1:00 Young Explorers
With Dana Menlove and Rachel Stewart
Send your young explorer on an expedition with naturalist Miss Dana into the wilds of Hidden Springs open spaces! Using our senses and our brilliant imaginations, we will discover and study creatures, plants and trees and our relationship to them. We’ll find tracks of all kinds, from birds and insects to small and large animals, and we’ll even enjoy some time at the farm and on Dry Creek! These fun expeditions will include creative expression through poems, songs, and painting. Let’s go exploring!

Session 2: July 6-15 10:00-1:00 Art Camp
With Deb Yensen
Throughout these weeks of creative art making, the children will be introduced to different artistic mediums including print making, clay sculpting, painting, drawing and tie-dying. Art instructor, Deb Yensen, received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Boise State University in print making, painting and drawing. She has experience teaching through the Boise Art Museum’s ArtReach program and the McCall Arts and Humanities Council. She will lead the children in discovering their own creative style in the art realm. Stories, music, nature and literature will be incorporated into each day’s activities, along with plenty of outdoor play, nature walks and summertime fun.

Session 3: July 27- Aug. 5 10:00-1:00 Sports Mania!
With Rachel Stewart
Soccer, Kickball, T-Ball, Tennis, and more! During these weeks, the children will explore different sports, receive instruction and enjoy participating in a variety of sports and outdoor games. We’ll take special excursions to the community tennis courts and baseball fields, and play outdoor games such as badminton and horseshoes. The children will play hard, sing songs, and enjoy a variety of sports themed crafts. We’ll finish off our camp session with a fun filled day of camp Olympics, where the children will compete in silly relays, water games, and outdoor fun!
