Smart Start Summer Camps-2012

Session 1: June 12-21  (T,W,TH)  Young Explorers!        With Dana Doherty Menlove

Send your young explorer on an expedition into the wilds of Hidden Springs with local naturalist Miss Dana! Using all our senses and brilliant imaginations as we explore the farm and creek, we will discover and study creatures and plants that share our home here in Hidden Springs. Through creative expression using poetry, song, and visual art, we will mindfully discover our relationship with our own natural landscape, including its wildlife inhabitants. Let’s go exploring!   Dana has twenty years experience as a naturalist interpretive guide in diverse ecosystems and as many years working closely with children. Her degrees in the humanities lend an eye for seeing the ways art and nature interplay and as a certified children’s mindfulness and yoga teacher Dana integrates attention to this relationship as a child develops a sense of self and place in the world.

Session 2: July 2 – 12   On Stage Drama Camp!                         With Kristin White

Drama, Music and Movement! Your child’s time will be filled with imagination and fun!  Together we will create a world of make believe, where the children will act out some familiar stories through music, dance, movement and dramatic play.  We will get those creative juices flowing in order to create a backdrop and props to be used in a final performance at the end of the camp session. Children will walk away with a better beat, dancing feet and a smile that shows more confidence in themselves. Kristin White has more than 20 years of theater experience, and is certified in both Yoga and Pilates.  Kristin runs “ELEMENTS”, a successful child-care program in Hidden Springs. This camp extends the age limit, accepting children from 4-11yrs old, to give children a chance to work and play at different levels.

Session 3:  July 24- Aug. 2   A Day at the Beach !            With Erin Tippetts

Join us as we take a trip to the beach, and enjoy some fun in the sun! The children will learn about a variety of sea creatures, create beachy crafts, make and fly kites, build sand castles, and participate in a mini Hawaiian Luau complete with dancing and blended drinks! There will be plenty of water games, outdoor activities, creative crafts, songs and summer fun!
